Books & Podcasts That Kept Me Sane During PG Life

πŸ“š My Favorite Books & Podcasts That Shaped My PG Life

By Pranav Sharma

A PG is a chaotic place to live. But in the midst of the shared restrooms, loud hallways, and erratic schedules, I discovered a secret method to remain inspired, sane, and intelligent: books and podcasts.

They are now more than just amusement. They are constantly accessible and enlightening, much like silent mentors. These books and podcasts have aided in my mental, emotional, and even creative development throughout my PG career.

πŸ“– Favorite Books:

1. James Clear's Atomic Habits

I literally developed my current morning and evening routines thanks to this book. It describes how little behaviors add up over time and offers helpful advice on how to modify behavior, even if you live in a tiny, noisy room with no personal space.

🧠 Lesson Learned: Pay attention to systems rather than just objectives.

2. Cal Newport's Deep Work

Distractions abound in PGs. I learned from this book how to safeguard my concentration, stay away from pointless diversions (like endless scrolling), and clear my mind so that I can work on important tasks.

🧠 Lesson Learned: Use your focus as a superpower.

3. HΓ©ctor GarcΓa and Francesc Miralles' Ikigai

Even on lazy PG days when I doubted everything, this Japanese philosophy book helped me think about what makes my life meaningful. It is contemplative, calming, and thought-provoking.

🧠 Lesson Learned: Take your time and savor the little things in life.

4. Austin Kleon's Show Your Work

Even though my work isn't flawless, this book encouraged me to share more as I develop a public blog portfolio. It all comes down to being transparent, sharing your journey with others, and recording your process.

🧠 Lesson Learned: Sharing doesn't require you to be a genius.

🎧 Favorite Podcasts:

1. The Ranveer Show (TRS)

Features interviews that are like wisdom capsules and cover a variety of topics, including fitness, mental health, motivation, and life. I frequently listen while taking walks in the evening or cleaning my room.

πŸŽ™️ Why I Adore It: There is always something new to learn, and the guests come from a variety of backgrounds.

2. Think Fast, Talk Smart by Stanford GSB

This podcast improved my ability to communicate and organize my ideas, which is helpful when you need to confidently express yourself in front of others.

πŸŽ™️ Why I Adore It: It is brief, practical, and actionable.

3. On Purpose with Jay Shetty

Strong life lessons combined with a soothing voice make this the ideal podcast to listen to at night in a busy PG. Jay talks about motivation, relationships, self-worth, and emotional development.

πŸŽ™️ Why I Love It: He simplifies complex emotions and teaches how to handle life better.

πŸ›️ How I Include Them in My PG Routine

  • 🎧 Podcasts while brushing or making breakfast
  • πŸ“– One-page rule before bed → Books
  • 🎧 Audiobooks or interviews during travel or while waiting
  • πŸ“˜ When I'm at a loss for ideas, I flip through Show Your Work

πŸ”š Conclusion

Long hours and costly classes are not necessary for growth; all you need is a good book or a good podcast. Throughout PG life, these little pearls of wisdom have given me more clarity, self-assurance, and composure.

Start with just one book or one episode if you're feeling overburdened. Big changes could result from that little change.

10 Things I Wish I Knew Before Moving Into a PG

Moving into a PG for the first time? Here are 10 essential things you must know before choosing your paying guest accommodation, from Wi-Fi issues to roommate tips and food quality. Avoid common PG mistakes and find your perfect stay! 1. “Fully Furnished” Doesn’t Mean Fully Functional Beds may squeak, cupboards may be broken, and fans might sound like helicopters — always check everything in person. 2. What If Death Wasn’t Scary? Understanding Our Fear of the Unknown

What If Death Wasn’t Scary? By Pranav Sharma Have you ever thought why death scares us so much? It’s not just the thought of losing everything we love or the idea of physical pain, but those are part of it, yes. But the deeper fear is something more primal: we simply don’t know what comes next . Every religion, philosophy, and science tries to answer the question in its own way. Some say there’s heaven, others speak of reincarnation, some of eternal nothingness. But none of it is certain. And that not knowing is what feeds our deepest anxiety. But imagine this: what if we had clarity? What if we knew what came after death—whatever it was—with total certainty? Wouldn’t that change everything? The Root of Fear: Uncertainty Uncertainty triggers anxiety in all areas of life. Think about it: Waiting for the medical test result gives us more anxiety than the bad news. Not knowing if someone loves you always hurts more than the breakup. Being lost somewhere unknown is scarier than ...
